Whether you work from home full time or park time, there are plenty of ways that you can increase your productivity. If you have worked from home a long time, then you will know how difficult it is when you‘re starting out and by now you will have your own tips and tricks on how to increase your productivity. When I first started working from home, after my normal working hours in the office, I found it very difficult to get motivated and put in the hours that I wanted to. The reason I found it so difficult was that I was surrounded by home comforts, distractions and the fact that I had already worked 8 – 9 hours in front of a computer! As time pasted I eventually worked out how to get focused and get the most out of my time. So here are a few tips that will help you:
Get yourself motivated!
This is probably the most important point on the list as this is what drives you to achieving your desired goal. Everybody gets motivated in different ways but what helps me is thinking about the non-productive stuff I would be doing if I wasn’t concentrating on work.
Keep a to do list
This helps me as I can prioritise the list and see what things need to be done first. This helps me to get motivated as my to-do list is always growing so I know I need to keep on top of it.
Keep a calendar
One of best tips I can give you is that I always schedule how many days I am going to work a week and also how many hours I am going do. If for some reason I don’t achieve the completed hours for a day then I will make them up another day or spread them out over the week.
Keep the distractions at bay
Whilst working at home you will realise that there are so many distractions around you, for example the TV. Don’t watch the TV whilst doing work as you will spent more time with your eyes fixed to the TV screen rather than your PC screen. If you live with a partner, make sure they are aware that you are doing work so they don’t interrupt you unnecessarily.
The more times you work from home and complete your tasks the easy it gets to get motivated because you know how productive you can be if you put your mind to it.
